Brent airport transfers
Brent, close to Heathrow and the M1
Heathrow is about 14 miles from Brent and takes around 27 minutes on a clear road, making it one of the quickest boroughs in London for the main airport. Luton is about 49 minutes up the M1, and RAF Northolt is closer still for private flights.
Brent runs from Kilburn and Queen’s Park in the south-east to Wembley, Kingsbury and Preston in the north-west. It is home to Wembley Stadium and the OVO Arena, to the long high roads of Kilburn, Willesden and Harlesden, and to quiet suburban streets that feel a world away from both.
For air travel, its position is a gift. Brent sits between the North Circular and the A40, which lead to Heathrow, and close to the start of the M1, which leads to Luton. This page covers both, the airports that are harder to reach, and the thing that catches visitors out most often in this borough: event days at Wembley.
How long does it take from Brent to Heathrow?
About 27 minutes off-peak and 35 minutes in the weekday rush, on a 14-mile route that usually runs along the North Circular to Hanger Lane, then the A40 and the A312 to the airport. From Kilburn, chauffeurs sometimes prefer to go south to the A4 and the M4 instead; the choice depends on live traffic.
That makes Heathrow a short trip by London standards. For a long-haul departure, a pickup about two and a half to three hours before the flight is usually enough, including check-in and security. For short-haul flights with hand luggage, you can leave a little later, but always check the airline’s own deadline.
What happens on Wembley event days?
When there is a football match, a concert or a big event at Wembley Stadium or the OVO Arena, the roads around the stadium change. Some streets close, parking restrictions tighten across a wide area, and the North Circular and the roads around Wembley Park fill with traffic before and after the event.
If your pickup falls on an event day, tell us, or we will check the calendar ourselves when you book. The chauffeur may suggest an earlier pickup, a meeting point on a street outside the restricted area, or a route that avoids Wembley altogether. For an arrival that lands just as a concert ends, we plan the return route around the crowds rather than through them.
Is Luton a good choice from Brent?
For many short-haul flights, yes. Luton is about 33 miles away and takes around 49 minutes via the M1, which begins a few minutes from the borough at Staples Corner. The terminal is compact, and the walk from the drop-off area to check-in is short.
If you have the choice between Luton and Heathrow for the same destination, the difference in drive time is about 20 minutes. Heathrow has the wider range of airlines and flight times; Luton is often simpler for a short break with hand luggage.
What about Gatwick and Stansted?
Both are long journeys. Gatwick is about 55 miles via the M25 and takes around 73 minutes off-peak, or 95 minutes in the rush. Stansted is about 45 miles via the North Circular and the M11 and takes around 78 minutes, more at busy times.
For Gatwick, the rail alternative is to reach Victoria and take the Gatwick Express, or to use Thameslink from West Hampstead. With a small bag, those are fair options. With a family, several cases or an early flight, a car from your door is simpler and often not much slower.

Can you meet private flights at Northolt?
Yes. RAF Northolt, which handles civil business aviation alongside its military role, is about eight miles from Brent and roughly 21 minutes away. Access is controlled, so we need the name of the handling agent and the passenger details in advance. The chauffeur will go to the civil enclave rather than the main gate.
How do pickups work on Brent’s streets?
Kilburn High Road, Willesden High Road and Harlesden’s High Street are busy, with bus lanes and loading restrictions for much of the day. If you live on or just off one of them, the chauffeur will usually wait on a side street and message you with the exact spot, rather than stop in a bus lane.
In the quieter parts of the borough, such as Queen’s Park, Kingsbury and Sudbury, the chauffeur will stop at your door. For the new flats around Wembley Park, give us the building name; there are many blocks with similar names, and several have their entrance on a pedestrian street.
What is the journey home from Heathrow like?
Short and simple, which is the main reason Brent residents book a car back rather than a train. Your chauffeur follows the flight, waits in the arrivals hall of your terminal with a name board, and walks you to the car park beside the terminal. From there it is usually under half an hour to Wembley or Willesden.
Arrivals after a long-haul overnight flight often land between 05:00 and 07:00, when the A40 inbound is still clear. Later in the morning, traffic into London builds, and the chauffeur may choose the M4 and the North Circular instead. Either way, the price is fixed before you fly, so a slow road does not change what you pay.
Which car should you choose?
Because the Heathrow drive is short, many travellers from Brent choose the Mercedes E-Class. For families and groups, the V-Class keeps everyone together. If you are returning from a long flight to a Brent address, the S-Class is a comfortable way to finish the journey.
