Euston airport transfers
Euston, from the West Coast to the airport
From Euston, Heathrow is about 18 miles and 43 minutes away off-peak, and London City about 35 minutes. Most of our Euston journeys meet a train from Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool or Glasgow and continue to a flight.
Euston is the London terminus of the West Coast Main Line, with trains from Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Glasgow and North Wales, as well as local services from the Home Counties. It is also a construction site: the HS2 works around the station have changed the roads, entrances and pedestrian routes around it, and they will continue to do so for years.
For a traveller stepping off a long-distance train with luggage and a flight to catch, those works make a pre-arranged meeting point more useful than ever. This page explains how the connection works, how much time to leave, and when a train from Euston itself, or nearby stations, is the better choice.
How does a train-to-plane connection from Euston work?
Give us your train and your flight. The chauffeur follows the train, so a late running on the West Coast line moves the pickup automatically. The chauffeur meets you at the end of your platform or at an agreed point on the main concourse, with a board showing your name, and walks you to the car at the nearest legal stopping point outside.
With the construction works, that stopping point may change from month to month. The chauffeur will know the current arrangements and tell you where you are going before you set off with your bags.
How much time should you allow between train and flight?
For a long-haul flight from Heathrow, we suggest at least three and a half hours between the train’s scheduled arrival and your departure. The West Coast Main Line is busy, and delays of half an hour or more happen. The drive to Heathrow takes about 43 minutes off-peak and up to an hour in the rush, and check-in and security at Heathrow need at least two hours for an international flight.
For a short-haul flight from London City, allow about two and a half hours. If your plan looks tight, tell us, and we will be honest about the risk.
Arriving on the Caledonian Sleeper?
The overnight Caledonian Sleeper from Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Inverness and Fort William arrives at Euston early in the morning, which makes it a popular way to reach London for a morning or midday flight. Passengers can usually stay in their berths for a short while after arrival, and many have breakfast on board before leaving the train.
Give us the Sleeper service and the time you plan to leave the train, and the chauffeur will meet you on the platform or the concourse. An early-morning drive to Heathrow from Euston is often under 45 minutes, before the worst of the rush, which leaves a comfortable margin for a late-morning long-haul departure. For London City, the drive at that hour is even shorter.
Which airport is quickest from Euston?
London City, at about nine miles and 35 minutes off-peak via the A501 and the A13. Heathrow is about 43 minutes via the Euston Road, the Marylebone Road and the Westway. Luton is about an hour via the A41 and the M1, and Gatwick and Stansted are each well over an hour.

Is there a faster way to Heathrow by rail?
Sometimes. The Elizabeth line and the Heathrow Express both run from Paddington, a short taxi ride or a Tube journey away, and the Victoria and Piccadilly lines connect Euston to Heathrow with a change. For a solo traveller with light luggage, these can be quick.
After a long train journey with heavy cases, though, changing again at another station is hard work. A car from the Euston concourse to the Heathrow kerb is usually the more comfortable choice, and in light traffic it is also competitive on time.
Can you meet passengers arriving at Euston from an airport?
Yes, in the other direction too. Many visitors land at Heathrow and continue by train to Birmingham, Manchester or Glasgow. The chauffeur meets you in arrivals and brings you to Euston. For a reserved train, allow plenty of time; the drive can take an hour in the rush, and you will want time to find your platform with luggage.
What about the offices and hotels around Euston?
The area around the station has hospitals, including University College Hospital, offices on the Euston Road and several hotels. For a pickup from any of them, tell us the entrance, and the chauffeur will wait at the nearest point where stopping is allowed. The Euston Road is a busy red route, so side streets such as Gower Place or the roads towards Bloomsbury are often easier.
Is Euston inside the Congestion Charge zone?
No. The station is on the northern side of the Euston Road, which is the zone’s free boundary route. A pickup at Euston does not incur the charge, and the route to Heathrow along the Marylebone Road and the Westway stays outside it.
