Weddings, on the day and around it

A wedding needs more than one car at more than one time: guests landing at Heathrow in the days before, the couple and their families on the day, the drive to the reception and the ride home at midnight. We plan all of it as one schedule.

Wedding transport is usually thought of as a single car with ribbons. In practice, it is a dozen small journeys spread over several days, and most of the stress comes from the ones nobody planned: an aunt landing at Gatwick on the morning of the rehearsal dinner, a best man who needs to collect the rings, a grandmother who cannot walk far from the church door, and forty guests trying to leave a country house at midnight.

This page explains how we help with each part, which cars suit which role, and what we need from you to make the day run to time. We are a modern chauffeur service, not a classic wedding car specialist, and we say so plainly; many couples use both.

Guests flying in

Weddings in London and the Home Counties draw guests from all over the world, and many of them land in the two or three days before. Send us a list of names, flights and hotels, and we will build a schedule of airport transfers, each met in the arrivals hall with a name board. Guests on the same flight can share a V-Class. The families can see who has arrived and when, without making a single phone call.

The couple’s car

For the couple, the Mercedes S-Class, is the usual choice: a large, quiet rear cabin, enough room for a dress, and a smooth ride. The car is cleaned inside and out for the day. White ribbons can be fitted on request; tell us in advance, and we will confirm what we can arrange. If you have booked a vintage or classic car for the ceremony itself, we can cover the other journeys around it.

Families and the wedding party

Parents, bridesmaids, groomsmen and grandparents usually travel in groups of four to six. The V-Class seats six in comfort, with room for flowers and garment bags, and its sliding doors make getting in and out easy in formal clothes. For a larger wedding party, the V-Class seats six, and we send more than one when the party needs it.

Timing the day

Send us the order of the day: where everyone is getting ready, the ceremony time, the photographs, the reception venue and the end of the evening. We work backwards from the ceremony and build in margin, because a bride arriving five minutes late is a tradition, and one arriving thirty minutes late is not. Each chauffeur gets the full timetable and the phone number of one person to call, usually the best man, a parent or the wedding planner.

Photographs on the way

Many couples stop between the ceremony and the reception for photographs, in a park, on a bridge or outside a landmark. Tell us the stops. In central London, stopping for more than a moment is only possible where it is legal and safe, so the chauffeur will drop you and park nearby, then collect you when the photographer is finished.

Guests to the reception

When the ceremony and the reception are at different venues, guests need to get from one to the other. For a small number, chauffeur-driven cars in a loop work well. For thirty or more guests, a coach is usually better value, and we will say so. For larger numbers, several V-Class vehicles run the loop together.

The end of the evening

Late-night transport is the part of a wedding most often forgotten, and the part guests remember. At a country venue, taxis can be impossible to find at midnight. Pre-booked chauffeur-driven cars to the main hotels, timed for the end of the reception, get everyone home safely. Give us the finishing time and the hotels, and we will plan the departures in waves.

Weddings outside London

Many London couples marry in the Cotswolds, Surrey, Kent, Sussex or Oxfordshire. We cover those journeys too: guests from London hotels or airports to the venue, and back at the end of the night. Allow for longer drive times on summer Saturdays, when roads to popular wedding counties are busy.

Going away

After the reception, or the morning after, the couple often leave for the airport and the honeymoon. The same car and chauffeur can take you straight from the venue or the hotel to the terminal, with the luggage packed in advance. It is a calm end to a long day.

What we need from you

The date, the addresses and timings for each part of the day, the number of people in each group, any mobility needs, and one contact for the day. For guests arriving by air, their names, flights and hotels. The earlier we have the plan, the easier it is to keep the right cars free: summer Saturdays book up well in advance.

Guests with mobility needs

Grandparents and older guests may find it hard to walk from a car park to a church or a country house. Tell us who needs help, and the chauffeur will set them down as close to the entrance as the venue allows. The V-Class’s sliding door and step height make getting in and out easier than in a low saloon.

What the price includes

  1. 01

    Flight tracking

The chauffeur follows your flight number, so an early landing or a delay moves the pickup with it.

  2. 02

    Meet and greet

Your chauffeur waits in arrivals with a board showing your name, and takes the bags from there.

  3. 03

    A fixed price

Agreed when you book. Traffic, a longer route on the day or a late landing do not change it.

  4. 04

    Parking and drop-off

Airport drop-off and short-stay parking charges are part of the price, not added afterwards.

  5. 05

    A route from live traffic

The chauffeur checks the roads before setting off and picks the line that is moving.
